Assess the coral reef community and health by identifying reef check key indicators of fish, invertebrates/ impacts, and substrates through conducting surveys to collect data for coral reef management and conservation. Certification of Reef Check EcoDiver card and survey tool kits are included.
Examine the coral bleaching and health for each colony in different survey methods. The chart standardizes changes in coral colors and provides a simple way for people to quantify coral health and contribute to the CoralWatch global database. PADI eCard for the specialty is included.
The Roving Diver Technique is the best survey method to list the species of coral reef fishes to record every observed fish species that can be positively identified and scores of approximate abundance. A total of 65 sp. will be studied. Survey tool kits (slate, data sheet & UW Fish ID guide) are included.
Introduce divers, snorkelers, and others, to the basic science of marine biology and familiarize them with proper diving techniques for responsible interaction. A total of 30 hours online includes four units of Ocean Environment, Marine Organisms, Marine Ecosystems, and Marine Biodiversity, Threats & Conservation.
